Now to my eye, these so-called Swobbles look kind of lurid and unattractive in their acid bright colours - but apparently, babies are attracted to them like bees to honey. Much of their appeal would seem to lie in their vinyl feel, which babies can prod and stroke to their hearts' content. Meanwhile, parents are loving that they can wipe them clean at the drop of a wet cloth. Far be it from me to sniff at that.

Quite unlike any other toys we've seen, the Swobbles were a huge favourite with the smaller members of our testing team (and quite a few of the bigger ones, too!). Made from a soft but sturdy vinyl, they have an irresistible, tactile feel that babies seem to love - suitable from birth, they'll withstand any amount of squeezing, sucking and "loving" and can be wiped clean in an instant. Slightly bonkers but completely cuddly, we think these cool characters make a welcome change from the usual plush toys!
